I Do Venues

I Do Venues (IDV), launched in 2009, offers an insider’s perspective of Bay Area wedding venues and provides a la carte wedding planning for today’s busy DIY bride. The content and imagery is provided by a unique collaboration of wedding vendors who have come together to present a fresh perspective on spectacular wedding venues. Using an organic acquisition strategy the Web site has achieved a 318,000 U.S. Alexa ranking and more than 250 Yahoo! backlinks in its first year.

Technology
The IDV Web presence is built on WordPress–a popular open source content management system (CMS) used as a blog publishing application. The site is powered by PHP and MySQL. The Web site architecture is wrapped around a power template system that makes the IDV publishing and distribution authoring model super efficient. The design is completely exclusive to the needs expressed by IDV and the platform was developed to support a blogging community and robust social networking.

User Inferface/Design
The user interface is fantastic. We’re especially proud of the drop-down menu system that gives IDV a distinctive look and custom functionality. The menu component is tied to the CMS. The site is chalk full of unique content and one-of-a-kind photography and venue reviews. Well written content engages the reader, increases SEO rankings, and promotes inbound linking. IDV has embraced the golden rule of SEO—Content Is King!

Slideshow Implementation
As part of the IDV project Dirigo developed a custom slideshow implementation. In essence, our slideshow is a WordPress plugin. Plugins can extend WordPress to do almost anything imaginable. There are more than 10,000 available plugins. We’ve not added our plugin to the WordPress development center because we want IDV’s plugin to be exclusive to the brand.

Blog Admin
Dirigo’s standard CMS is Adxstudio, a powerful and affordable CMS built on the Microsoft.NET 3.5 framework. For IDV, we elected to use WordPress because of the embedded multi-user blog and community features. Easy-to-use web-based tools empower content authors to manage complex Web sites, intranets, and extranets while assuaging the strain on IT and development resources.

Really Simple Syndication (RSS)
RSS, a family of web-feed formats used to publish frequently updated works, has contributed to IDV’s success. An Internet marketing strategy has many parts and RSS is an important ingredient. By giving DIY brides the option to subscribe to venue specific feeds, IDV delivers the perfect content.
